Question by erin12110: What causes yeast infection? Do I have it? Here are my symptoms, what do you think it is?
I’ve probably had this infection for at least a month or two and I wasn’t so sure what it was. I am experiencing – White discharge that tends to stick to the walls of my labia (sp?) Itchy here and there, and that is pretty much it. I have one sex partner which is my husband and we both have been faithful to one another. I have douched before and I have used condoms. Could these items be causing this? Should I purchase some Vagisil when I can? Thanks in advance!

www.balancedhealthtoday.com www.balancedhealthtoday.com www.balancedhealthtoday.com Everything in the body is interrelated and the body has hormones, and when hormone levels are out of balance, yeast infections can be the result. Finding out why your hormones are going up or down is very important information that would be good to know. Yeast cells can be wiped out by the correct pH, which can be found in menstrual blood. If you are a woman who is on contraceptives, if you do not already have a yeast infection, you probably will soon. Also, some steroids will cause infections in some women because the basis for steroids is hormonal. That is also why some steroid treatments may sometimes result in the formation of a yeast over-growth situation. If you can identify the cause of your yeast infection, you should not have any problems eliminating the symptoms and ridding yourself of this pesky condition. It’s really not that difficult. Sometimes you may have a situation where you have to take antibiotics. Ask your doctor if there is something you can do to lower your risk of getting a yeast infection while you take the antibiotics. If you have good eating habits and include a lot of whole, unprocessed foods in your diet, you will have a better chance of maintaining a healthy level of beneficial bacteria in your body. www.balancedhealthtoday.com www.balancedhealthtoday.com Video Rating: 0 / 5

Answer by Dr Noopur, MD Hello,
Candidiasis(yeast infection) is caused by the overgrowth of yeast-like fungi called Candida. Candida inhabit the vagina, mouth and digestive tract in small numbers and are normally harmless. When the balance of naturally occurring organisms in the vagina is disrupted an overgrowth of Candida can occur.
Take some precautionary measures like avoid wearing tight fitting clothing like jeans and pantyhose and underwear made from synthetic fibresRemove wet or damp bathing suits immediately after swimming, avoid douching, perfumed soaps, bubble baths and toiletries, change underwear daily, wash underwear in hot water (to destroy fungi) and double rinse (to remove any irritating detergent) and take adequate nutrition and sleep. Also use some antifungal pessaries like clotrimazole (Femizole-7), miconazole (Monistat-Derm, Monistat Vaginal) or nystatin which are available over the counter. If still the symptoms persist then oral antifungals may be needed.Pls consult a gynecologist in that case.

Question by Fawn: Is honey effective in relieving yeast infection symptoms?
I read that honey can be used as a home remedy for the itching caused by yeast infections, because of it’s anti-fungal properties. However, I know honey is high in sugar, which is what the yeast feeds on. It seems like it would cancel itself out.
I was wondering if any one has tried it, be it putting directly on the vagina, or eating it. Did it help any, or did it make it worse?
